Hammock Hangout

At 5,400 feet above sea level, the sun radiates strongly during the day so we decided to use one the most lush, white ash trees on the property to create a beautifully shaded area with cozy hammocks placed throughout the treetops for people to relax and have a break from the sunshine.

Manzanita Lounge

With one of the most dazzling views of the Sierras, the artisanal Manzanita Lounge features a raised deck and rustic pergola constructed from trees 100% sourced from the property. As a central design element within the Canopy property, each manzanita branch was hand-placed by Canopy founders Matt & Jeff Alligood and designed to incite a sense of relaxation, creativity, energy and connection with the earth. The pergola is solar-powered and the perfect place for a relaxing nighttime yoga session, stargazing or sharing stories with old friends.

THINGS TO DO
IN OUR BACKYARD

There are countless adventures to take ranging from sunset hikes up to Canopy Rock, to exploring the Sequoia trees, to swimming in Shaver Lake or hikes around the Sierra Nevadas.

McKinley Grove

McKINLEY GROVE

Mckinley Grove is an absolutely breathtaking grove of Giant Sequoias located in Sierra National Forest only 30-40 minutes away from the Canopy. It is a beautiful drive down Dinkey Creek Road that will lead you into these massive beauties. Once you arrive, there is a short half-mile hike that allows you to get up close and personal with these magnificent giants.

It is a perfect day trip to enjoy a picnic and spend some time with these 2000 year old trees that are over 25 feet (8m) in diameter and over 250 feet (80m) high. These trees are some of the most special living organisms on the earth.

RANCHERIA FALLS

Rancheria Falls is a beautiful hike near Huntington Lake (about 20 minutes past Shaver Lake) where you can hike 2 or 4 miles to the waterfall. If you want the longer hike, park at the sign where it says “Rancheria Falls 4 miles” or if you want to head up the rocky road to the parking lot you can have a shorter hike. Weekends can get a bit more busy, or choose to hike early in the morning. Either way,  it’s a beautiful hike and waterfall!

BACKYARD BOULDERING

At the top of our property is Canopy Rock, offering a 20-meter high area to tie rope on the backside of the Rock, or a handful of little areas where you can explore and find some little bouldering spots. Make sure to always climb with another partner or crash pad.

TRAILS FOR DAYS

There are countless trails all around Shaver Lake, Huntington Lake and Cliff Lake as well as some trails that lead behind the property as well if you wanted to try to find “Hidden Falls”, a 50 ft. waterfall where we have built a little pool at the bottom where you can cool off in the heat of the summer.
